Wedding of the Month

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

The date is finally here… This Saturday (Sep-20-2008) Cassandra and Luke are getting married.

I can truly say that I have been waiting for this Wedding very anxiously. For me, this is not the Wedding of the month… it is the Wedding of the year.

No matter how much I try to explain and describe the details of this Wedding, the couple’s personality and how much I feel honored to be part of their special day - I just can’t find enough words to realy make you understand about this unique and special wedding.

Cassy and Luke… I hope that my Photography can translate how happy and honored I feel to be there for you.

Stylist - Photo Stylist - Food Stylist

paulo and peggy

There are few different kind of Stylists - hair stylist, photo stylist, product stylist, food stylist, prop stylist, fashion stylist and etc. Few stylists even specialize in more than one area of styling. If you think very well, all them are related to photography - catalog - magazines - etc.

When you want to “brain storm” an idea or product - and make it look good in some magazine, catalog, website and etc - you need more than just a great Photographer - you also need a great Stylist.

I am surprised how many people call me to take pictures of their products, not knowing that to have a great commercial picture taken you need more than just a photographer - you need to have a team (photographer, stylist, assistant, art director, etc).

Peggy Chase Jordao (http://www.stylebychase.net) is one of the top photo stylists in America - and she has been represented by two of the most prestigious agencies in the country: FORD and TEAM.

Here are some of her links for commercial Photography and different area of styling:

New Canon 50D SLR

Monday, September 1st, 2008

B & H - Photo and video, is expecting the new Canon 50D arrival for October 2008.

Here are few more details about the Canon 50D (you can also read more at B & H Website)

The Canon EOS 50D SLR Digital Camerafeatures an APS-C sized 15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor for superb quality images and the latest DIGIC 4 Image Processor to provide superior color reproduction, and improved ISO capabilities for uncompromising shooting even in the dimmest situations. It also features a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor, supercharged Live View Function with Face Detection Live mode, plus a number of automatic Image Correction settings and HDMI output.

The 15.1-megapixel image sensor delivers ultra-detailed images and the redesigned photo diodes and microlenses of the sensor extend its light gathering capabilities to ensure improved high ISO performance and low noise. Furthermore, the camera’s ISO sensitivity is an astounding 3200 with expanded sensitivity to an ultra-sensitive 12800. The Integrated Cleaning System includes a Self Cleaning Sensor Unit with a fluorine coating to improve the camera’s image quality by helping to reduce, repel and remove unwanted dust from the sensor. Plus, stubborn particles can be removed automatically in post-production with Dust Delete Data and Canon’s included Digital Photo Professional software.

The 50D is incredibly fast thanks to the DIGIC 4 processor - it allows for up to 6.3 fps continuous shooting, in bursts of up to 90 JPEG images (with a UDMA CF card). Furthermore, Canon’s wide area AF system uses 9 individual cross type sensors, so stunning action sequences can be captured - even in low-light conditions - making the EOS 50D particularly suited to sports and wildlife shooting. The DIGIC 4 processor also delivers 14-bit image processing, for smooth gradation and natural-looking colors - as well as ensuring ultra-fast startup times and near-instant image review after shooting.

The 3.0″ Clear View VGA LCD (920,000 pixels) provides an extra-large and wide angle-of-view image review, with plenty of clarity for accurate focus checks in playback. By switching to Live View mode - which displays a real-time image on the LCD - photographers can enjoy simplified shooting from awkward angles, or connect to a PC for remote shooting. In addition, the Live Mode offers three ways to auto focus: Quick AF, Live AF, and Face Detection Live AF, which optimizes focus based on faces detected in the frame - for fast, spontaneous portraiture. The camera even offers HDMI output for viewing images on an HDTV - directly from the camera.

Even with all of these high powered features, the EOS 50D features Canon’s renowned intuitive EOS menu system, along with a Quick Control screen, for instant access to the most commonly-changed settings. There is also a Creative Auto mode that offers automatic focus and exposure - while still allowing the user to add creative ‘tweaks’ to settings such as background sharpness. Altogether the Canon EOS 50D is an excellent product for advanced amateur photographers and entry-level professionals.

Airline Companies - Bad Services - How Low Can We Go

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Every single day I am more and more surprised on how the “quality of services” in this country has been deteriorating. I love to read and suty about marketing and the effects on how it has been applied to successful business all over the world. I just don’t understand how we keep going lower and lower on this road of BAD SERVICES.

Yesterday, I was watching on CBS news a story about Jet Blue and other airline companies charging all kind of different fees, including luggage, food, soft drinks and even water. Can you imagine if you have to travel a 5 hours flight and you have to pay for your water? I had this problem few months ago, where I had to buy some water to drink with some medication. If I could have wait, I would. Even Football Stadiums, where they try to charge you as much as they can for their food and drinks, they still offer free water (water fountains).

We are not to far from been charged to go to the restroom inside the airplane. They were also showing how the Airline companies have been raising their prices up to almost 300%.

There are people that might react bad about this blog saying; “it’s the gas prices” - “if you don’t like it, just don’t travel” - “It’s Obama’s fault”…

The only question that I have for you today is…

HOW LOW CAN WE GO?

Most of my clients know me as a Wedding Photographer, and it is fair to say that 80% of my photography work is shooting weddings.

When Anna asked me to take some Pregnancy Portraits of her, I knew that I would have to give my best to don’t let her photos look like another boring pregnancy picture that you find all the time on the Internet.

I wanted her photo session to look like something artistic, romantic and sensual.

Here are few of the pictures that I wanted to show you.

PPGF Barbecue

Today the PPGF Association (Photographers) had a great family barbecue at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park. Ok… It was more a Picnic than a barbecue, but since we are in America… let’s say that it was a barbecue. OK? :-)

Everything was perfect; a lot of people from our association showed up with their families. My wife and my son (Peggy and Ryan) came with me, so we could have some good time together.

Creating a new Webstite

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

I want to update my Website, but first I need to finish this one that I started creating to my wife.

Peggy is a talented Photo-Stylist (CLICK HERE to visit Peggy’s Websiteand she has been traveling all over the country helping her clients to create a personal and unique image for their catalogs and commercials. She works with clients like; Nike, The Home Depot, Kmart, Frontgate, McDonald’s, Macy’s and so many other companies and celebrities that it would take to much of your time if I have to mention all them here.

Anyway…

She has two very strong agencies representing her: Team and Ford, but once a while she has some other stylists or photographers asking asking her to see her work.

This week she asked me if I could create a website for her, so she could organize some of her work there to people see them. It might take few days until I finish the whole project, but I wanted to show you what the Landing Page will look like.

let me know what you think. OK?

Happy Father’s Day

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Once again is Father’s Day.

Sure I have been celebrating Father’s day since I was born, but I was celebrating it from other perspective (as the son). And by the way… In Brazil, we celebrate Father’s Day on “Second Sunday of August”.

Four years ago father’s Day started having a completely different meaning to me… Ryan was born in MAY of 2004, and a month latter I was celebrating my FIRST OFFICIAL FATHER’S DAY.

I don’t want to take to much of your time explaining how great my life has been this last four years, or how proud I feel seen Ryan growing up to be the extraordinary person that he is (at least through my eyes). I would have to write a book just to describe my last four years of fatherhood, but instead I wanted to show you only the beginning… and maybe you can understand what runs inside my heart!!!

Please whatch the video (Ryan’s First Year - around 10 minutes long) and Multiply my feelings X 100 times :-)

Lets Talk About Disney World

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

As I promised you few days ago, I would post some pictures of my 3 days vacation at Disney World.

Few months ago, I had to go to Orlando to a Videographer’s Convention, and I enjoyed the occasion to bring Peggy and Ryan along. I was going to my classes and they bought a 4 days PASS to Disney. At the time, they just used 2 passes and they would have to use the other 2 passes the next 6 months.

After Simon’s Bar Mitzvah (2weeks ago), we decided that would be the perfect time to have a little vacation.

OK!!! LETS GO TO DISNEY…

I thought that because all the kids are still in School, it would be perfect to go there on a week day (Thursday and Friday). Does anybody work? How about the economy?

For me, it was a huge surprise that the MGM and Magic Kingdom had that many people in. It was not as bad as Christmas time (believe me), but it did have a lot of people walking around. You will see one of the pictures that I took from one of the rides saying “wait time - 70 minutes”. Can you imagine stay in line for that long? In each park would have 2 or 3 rides that you would have to wait at least 60 minutes in line.

Just one more thing before I show you the pictures…

I AM GLAD THAT I AM BACK… :-)
