Just Say, “Merry Christmas”!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

I was raised Catholic, and even if I don’t practice my religion as much as I should, I still like Christmas Time.

For me, the best thing about Christmas is that most of people enjoy more their friends and family this time of the year and that for few weeks, during the month of December, people come at you with open hearts smiling and wishing you Merry Christmas.

But this was before I came to America.

This December, I celebrate exactly 10 years since I first came to Florida - USA.

I was lucky enough to watch at first sight the beauty of Las Olas Boulevard Christmas Lights and the beautiful people walking at the streets.

After that I noticed that people would approach me wishing me Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas. It took a long time to understand why people were doing that - in my mind, a holiday without a name does not have a meaning.

On 4th of July, you say “Happy 4th of July” - On Thanksgiving, you say “Happy Thanksgiving” - so… Why that on Christmas, people were wishing me Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas?

I understand that you might not share the same religion or believes, but when you wish me Happy Holidays, I certainly don’t feel as special as when you wish me Merry Christmas (for me Happy Holidays mean “Happy Commercial Shopping Time”) .

And if you are Jewish, I would prefer you wishing me Happy Hanukkah, because Hanukkah means something important to you as much as Christmas is to me.

So for this Christmas I will wish you MERRY CHRISTMAS and I will be ok if you turn back to me and wish me HAPPY HANUKKAH.

Merry Christmas to All!

Anamarie’s Birthday

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Yesterday, I was at Shirley Palumbo’s house taking pictures of her daughter’s (Anamarie) 8th birthday.

It was a great party with a lot of food, drink, music and great games to keep the kids entertained.

Here are few of my favorites:

Boat Parade Party - Multiple Sclerosis Foundation

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Yesterday I had the privilege of shooting the Fort Lauderdale Winterfest Boat Parade from the DeBianchi’s house (Click Here to Check all the Pictures).

Paul and Valerie DeBianchi open their house to the “MSF” - Rock’n Boat Parade Party.

It was a great party with a lot of beautiful people, a great view to watch the Boat Parade and even a live band, but the most important was that  it helped the MSF raising money for their cause.

I would like to thank not just Paul and Valerie for their incredible big heart, but also Annette (Fund Development-Event Specialist Multiple Sclerosis Foundation) and Stenovia (Enchantment - Event Planning) for having me as their “Event Photographer”

Here is a little collage that I made from yesterda’s party:

My Name on “Sun-Sentinel” - Sports Hall of Fame

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Sure I mentioned before that I was the Photographer for the “Sports Hall of Fame - Class of 2008″. But it is always good to be recognized for my work.

Yesterday, Stacy Ostrau (Community Affairs Manager) of Sun-sentinel (The best newspaper of South Florida), wrote an article about the Sports Hall of Fame giving me the credit for the pictures that I took there.

I know that it is normal to mention the Photographer’s name, but I take my work very seriously, and I cant deny that I loved to see my name there.

Hey… this week I will be shooting some great party at the Fort Laudedale Boat Parade. I will let you know how it turned out. OK?

 Sports Hal of Fame

Tuesday night I was shooting some very well known celebrities here in South Florida.

It was the Sports Hall of Fame - Class of 2008, with six new inductees (Kaye Pearson, Bonnie Canino, Cameron Benson, Eric Eichmann, Joe Rose and Danny Kanell, Jr.).

Other than the six inductees, there were at least another 20 past inductees present at the event.

It was a great event, with nice people, great dinner and some great pictures.

I just want to show some pictures and say few thanks and congratulations:

1) John and Sakia (Sports Hall of Fame); Thank for inviting me to be the photographer of this beautiful event.
