Don’t you have that days that you wake up and you just don’t feel the energy? That, was how my morning started!
On this Sunday, where my wife and son are traveling for my wife’s family reunion, I woke up late with the whole house in silence. I could even hear a far way sound of singing birds outside of the house. After a fast breakfast, I came to the computer to edit some more of my work, but something changed inside mewhen I decided to have a break and came across this 60 seconds video.
May I have 60 seconds of your time to make you smile?
I want to update my Website, but first I need to finish this one that I started creating to my wife.
Peggy is a talented Photo-Stylist (CLICK HERE to visit Peggy’s Website) and she has been traveling all over the country helping her clients to create a personal and unique image for their catalogs and commercials. She works with clients like; Nike, The Home Depot, Kmart, Frontgate, McDonald’s, Macy’s and so many other companies and celebrities that it would take to much of your time if I have to mention all them here.
Anyway…
She has two very strong agencies representing her: Team and Ford, but once a while she has some other stylists or photographers asking asking her to see her work.
This week she asked me if I could create a website for her, so she could organize some of her work there to people see them. It might take few days until I finish the whole project, but I wanted to show you what the Landing Page will look like.
First of all, I have one thing that I need to say to all the people that came to our PHOTOWALK:
Y O U M A D E M Y D A Y !!!
A huge thanks to everyone that showed up for the Fort Lauderdale Photowalk today. We had a great group of 43 people (including 2 kids 1 baby and 1 dog). I couldn’t expect more from everyone, and I think everyone can agree that it was a “picture” perfect morning (a little hot, but better than if it was raining).
So thanks again, and now let’s get those images uploaded.
Click on this Link: Flickr , and download your picture into our Fort Lauderdale Photowalk Group.
Here are few more pictures…
We had so many people that we had to take 2 group shots
Group 1
Group 2
I am glad that you guys could make it
Thanks to GOLD’S GYM HOLLYWOOD for the 20 T-Shirts
We are going to meet around 9:45am in front a little water fountain at Las Olas Riverfront, Fort Lauderdale. There are few different places there that you can park your car, even a valet parking. If you get lost call me: 954-270-0751. We will be there no matter what (Rain or Sun)!!!
Remember that this is a FREE event and that you can bring friends, family and even kids. I would recommend to every body (even kids) to have a camera (even if it is a $3.00 disposable camera) so you can really enjoy all that Photowalk has to offer.
So… What should you bring?
CAMERA-YES!!! After all… this is a Photowalk. It can be a “Professional Camera” or a ”Point and Shoot”. Remeber to check the “battery” and the “digital card” or “film”.
LENSES- I will bring just my 17 - 55mm, but you can choose whatever works better for you (just remember that we are going to be walking and heavy lenses might be too intrusive to other people and hard to carry around)
TRIPOD-For me… It is a NO!!! This is a personal choice. Since it will be daylight and I don’t want to carry extra weight, so I will not bring mine (some places give a hard time to photographers with tripod).
FLASH-It is a MAYBE. Most of the time you will not need one. Just if you want to take some portraits of people to.
WATER-Yes!
SNACKS-
I think that you got the idea already…
You can stay for the whole 1.7 miles, or as long as you feel that works for you. At the end we might grab some drink or some brunch and talk about our experience. That is the beauty of this event, you will meet people that have something in common with you.
Don’t forget to bring a lot of BUSINESS CARDS.
Just to remind you…
I can not thank enough GOLD’S GYM Hollywood, that gave us “20 T-Shirts” for this event, plus few “1 week free workout pass”.
As you might know, last week I was helping my wife with some shots for some editorial pictures that she needed to send to her agent.
On this post, I want to show you how I use photoshop to make a better presentation of my pictures. I learned a technique similar to this with Scott Kelby.
I will start with my last photo-session that I did last week:
First,I open the picture in photoshop and make all the adjustments (levels, color correction, etc)
Next…
-I create a Stroke (inside - size 10 - white),
- a Canvas Size width and height 0.1″ (black)
- another Canvas Size width and height 1″ (using some color from the picture - on this case a dark green)
- another Canvas Size Height 1″ (just the height and just to the bottom)
- a Stroke (inside - size 10 - white)
- a Canvas Size width and height 0.2″ (black)
And for last I choose some font and write down my information…
I like to print few 4″x6″ and leave them at the GYM, Hair Salon, etc…
So, it is a date… The Fort Lauderdale Photowalk is going to happen this Sunday, June 22 at 10:00 am.
I want to invite all Photographers (Professional or Amateur) and all Photography Lovers to join us on this fun and inspirational adventure that is Photowalk. You can come alone or bring some friends and even your family. I am bringing mine (IT IS FREE)!
A photowalk is the act of walking around with your camera and photographing your surroundings. Recently the term has become synonymous with a group of photographers (professional or amateur), with big or smaller cameras, walking in predetermined locations and then sharing their imagery. Alone or with a group, the purpose is still the same and that is to go out and shoot.
We are going to meet around 9:45am at Las Olas Riverfront (300 Southwest 1st Avenue Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312). They have a little outside water-fountain that is going to be our meeting point. OK? But because South Florida weather is so unpredictable and most of our summer rain goes away as fast as it came, I want to assure you that we will be there, no matter what… Sunny or Raining. If it’s raining we will relocate our meeting point to the first floor, close to the escalators.
I don’t know how many people are attending this Photowalk, as I said before, the more the merrier. Photographers, friends and people that read my blog, have been contacting me asking me more detail about the Photowalk, so I hope that we have a good number of people there.
Few news papers and TV stations have contact me also. They might even show up there on Sunday. I also got a Sponsorship from GOLD’S GYM HOLLYWOOD that is giving us 20 T-shirts + few 1week free workout pass for this event.
Just in case you get lost, here is my CELL: 954-270-0751.
The route is a 1.7 miles long ( CLICK HERE to check the ROUTE ), and because it passes through Las Olas Riverfront, old and historic Fort Lauderdale, New River and Las Olas Boulevard, we will have the opportunity to bring home some great shots ( Click Here to Check some SAMPLES ).
So…
If you like to take pictures… this event is right for you,
If you like just to walk… this event is right for you,
If you like to meet new people… this event is right for you,
If you like to bring your family to something fun… this event is right for you,
Sure I have been celebrating Father’s day since I was born, but I was celebrating it from other perspective (as the son). And by the way… In Brazil, we celebrate Father’s Day on “Second Sunday of August”.
Four years ago father’s Day started having a completely different meaning to me… Ryan was born in MAY of 2004, and a month latter I was celebrating my FIRST OFFICIAL FATHER’S DAY.
I don’t want to take to much of your time explaining how great my life has been this last four years, or how proud I feel seen Ryan growing up to be the extraordinary person that he is (at least through my eyes). I would have to write a book just to describe my last four years of fatherhood, but instead I wanted to show you only the beginning… and maybe you can understand what runs inside my heart!!!
Please whatch the video (Ryan’s First Year - around 10 minutes long) and Multiply my feelings X 100 times :-)
Today was the last day of the Power Lab, a FREE Bible Summer Camp that my son Ryan was going for this last whole week.
They had a great program and I was very impressed with the program and all the decorations that they created for this Power Lab. I was so impressed that I offered my services to come on their last day and take some pictures for them, so they can use the pictures to promote the next Power Lab.
Anyway, I don’t want to get to much in details here… I just want to show you few pictures that I took there.
Because I am a Photographer, there is a vantage or a disvantage of been married to a Photo-Stylist.
Tonight, I spent hours and hours shooting some editorial stuff.
Peggy, my wife, is a very well known Photo-Stylist in the catalogs business. She travels all over USA designing the Photography SET, so the Photographer can take the picture that goes on the catalogs.
Recently, one of her agents up in Boston, asked her to send some more sample of her work to a company that she will be working with in few weeks. She decided that she wanted to send one or two extra samples of her work, but she had something special in mind. She asked me if I could help her… How could I say no?
One of the shots will have our son at the beach and some other clothes displayed together (I still have to organize that composition a little better), but the second sample is ready…
Today was a great day… I took Ryan to his first Tennis Class in the morning and latter Peggy wanted to have some pictures done so she could send them to her agent in Boston. She wanted some very casual pictures with some kid and a set of clothes from Old Navy (who better for the job than our son RYAN)
Here are few shots… I will post a slide show with more pictures tomorrow. OK?
As I was telling you on my other post, I went few days ago to Downtown Fort Lauderdale to check on a nice and interesting route for our Fort Lauderdale PHOTOWALK that will happen on June 22, 2008 (SUNDAY - 10:00am). “Check the pictures that I took, at the end of this post“.
The Riverfront and Las Olas Boulevardare two of the most interesting and diversified places in Fort Lauderdale. There you will find a lot of green areas, new and interesting buildings, old and preserved Fort Lauderdale history and few of the most charming bar and restaurants that you could ever imagine. On top of that, we will have part of our route walking just on the sidewalk of ”the new river” (one of the most important canals of Fort Lauderdale) and the old but working “Train Track” with its elevating bridge.
I want to remind you that our Photowalk is for everyone that enjoy photography (Professionals and Amateurs) and it is FREE. You will have the opportunity of meeting few of the most talented photographers of South Florida and make some new friends too. After that, we will post all pictures on FLIKR ( CLICK HERE )
We are planning to end our Photowalk around a Bar and Restaurant called MANGOS. They have great food and drinks (have you ever tried to shoot after take one or two margaritas? you might even discover a new style) OOOps!!! I am kidding!
But jokes apart… That is what Photowalk is about. Come you too to be part of this unique experience, and bring some friends with you. IT IS FREE!!!
Let’s talk about Cassy and Luke’s Engagement Session that I shot Sunday at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.
Vizcaya is one of the best place to have a photo session done (Engagement, Sweet Sixteen or Wedding). The place is so huge that is almost impossible to use all the locations that it has to offer. It is so good location that, in few months, I will be offering my next Workshop (ENGAGEMENT PORTRAIT WORKSHOP) there .
About Cassy and Luke:
This couple are the coolest couple ever. I couldn’t ask for a better couple to work with.
Their wedding will be on September 20, and I have to tell you… This wedding will produce the most incredible pictures of the year.
Here are some more pictures of our morning at Vizcaya…
They look so cute Together!
I have another 200 pictures that I took there… but I hope you don’t expect me to show all them here. Do you have any idea how long it takes to re-size the pictures, download them to my blog, paste, etc… etc…?
Trust me… I think that we had so many good pictures, that I am glad that I am not the one that is going to select the winner to be printed 11″x14″ (Engagement Session)
I want to thank you for stopping by and having some time to read and comment on my posts.
This blog was created with you in mind. Here I will post few of my professional work, plus few little things of my personal life. I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I do creating it for you.
Thank You For Your Support!
